New Delhi, September 9: UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy shared a special moment as they arrived in Delhi for the G20 Summit on Friday.
They took to Instagram to post photos with the caption, “We’ve touched down in Delhi ahead of the G20. Our mission is to serve the British people.”
In one of the pictures, Akshata Murthy was captured holding UK PM Rishi Sunak’s tie, while he adjusted his attire. This snapshot was taken aboard the aircraft that carried them from the UK to India, just moments before they disembarked to join the G20 Summit, scheduled to take place from September 9-10 in New Delhi.
Upon their arrival at Palam Airport, Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey warmly greeted the British PM with a “Jai Siya Ram” welcome.
Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ashwini Choubey, presented UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty with copies of the Bhagavad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, and Rudraksha beads as a gesture of welcome to New Delhi, as reported by India Today.
The G20 Summit is set to commence tomorrow, September 9, with India playing host to leaders from the group of 20 major world economies. These global leaders will engage in discussions and deliberations on various pressing global issues, including digital transformation, climate financing, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and more.
Among the list of prominent world leaders attending the summit are US President Joe Biden, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and several others.
